Data sources and limits

AddressTool.org combines public geographic data with synthetic street numbers. This page lists the sources, the limits, and the date of the last review.

US cities, ZIP codes, counties, and timezones

The bundled city records were assembled from public US city/ZIP/county datasets. The current build contains 100 cities across 50 states and 843 unique ZIP codes. Fields are checked for plausible formats and state/city pairing, not for mailbox-level delivery.

Country address formats

The 30 country records are editorial summaries of common postal conventions. They are not official postal directives and are not legal advice. Confirm important mail with the national postal operator.

Current-location lookup

The Find tool uses the browser Geolocation API with your permission. Coordinates are sent to OpenStreetMap Nominatim for reverse geocoding, with BigDataCloud as a fallback. The site does not store coordinates or build a location history. See the privacy page for details.

Synthetic fields

Street numbers, street selections, unit numbers, persona names, emails, and phone numbers are generated. Emails use example.test; phones use the reserved 555-0100–555-0199 range. None of these identify a real person.

Tax information

State-level sales-tax summaries are simplified and reviewed on 2026-10-22. Local rates, product categories, and special districts can change the final amount. The pages are not tax advice.

What we do not use

We do not redistribute USPS ZIP+4 or PAF products, SimpleMaps CSV exports, or closed OSM-derived commercial datasets. We do not provide people search, reverse-person lookup, SSNs, identity documents, bank statements, or SMS receiving.
