A virtual address and a PO box both receive mail. A virtual address usually looks like a street address and may add scanning or forwarding. A PO box is a box at a postal facility.

What each option provides

A PO box is inexpensive and private but is not a street address. A virtual mailbox gives you a street-style address and remote mail handling, but it is usually a CMRA, not a staffed office.

What they cannot prove

Neither one is proof of residence. A bank may ask for a lease, a utility bill, or a government letter. A registered agent address is for state filings, not customer mail.

How to choose

Start with the requirement. If you need a mailing point, compare price and forwarding. If you need a state filing address, use a registered agent. If you need a physical office, use a coworking or serviced office.

Questions

Can I use a virtual address for an LLC?+
Often for mail, but check the state, the provider, and the bank. A registered agent address is a separate requirement.
Is a virtual address a scam?+
Not inherently. The risk is presenting it as something it is not, such as a residence or a staffed office.

Examples are synthetic. Do not use a generated address for identity checks, account registration, or delivery.
