Virtual Address for Business
A virtual address gives you a street-style mailing address and a way to receive mail remotely. It can be useful for a small business, but it is not a residence, a staffed office, or automatic proof of address. Here is what to check before you buy.

What you are actually buying
Most virtual address products are commercial mail receiving agencies. The provider receives mail at a street address, then scans, forwards, or holds it for pickup. Some plans add a phone answering service, meeting rooms, or a registered agent service.
The address may look like an office, but the product is mail handling. That distinction matters when a bank, marketplace, or government form asks for a physical operating address or a residence.
Before you pay
- Ask the bank or marketplace whether it accepts a CMRA address.
- Confirm whether the plan includes mail scanning, forwarding, or pickup.
- Check the cancellation and address-change process.
- Ask whether the provider files the required USPS Form 1583.
- Do not use the address as a residence or an operating facility.
A mailbox invoice is usually not accepted as proof of address. If a bank asks for a utility bill, lease, or government letter, a virtual address will not replace it.
Virtual address providers

| Provider | Best for | Address type | Mail handling | Price | Caveat |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| iPostal1 | A real street address with a mailbox number | CMRA street address | Scan, forward, shred, and pickup options | Low monthly plans; confirm current pricing | Some banks and marketplaces treat a CMRA differently from a physical office. Ask before you file. |
| Anytime Mailbox | Choosing a local mailbox operator | Partner CMRA locations | Scan, forward, and pickup depend on the location | Varies by location | Each location sets its own rules. Confirm notary, forwarding, and business-use policies in writing. |
| Earth Class Mail | Remote teams that need mail digitization | Virtual mailbox address | Scan to cloud, forward, deposit checks where supported | Business plans; confirm current pricing | Check whether the plan supports your entity type and whether the address is accepted for bank onboarding. |
| PhysicalAddress.com | A simple virtual mailbox with a street address | Virtual mailbox / CMRA | Scan, forward, and recycle | Monthly plans; confirm current pricing | A virtual mailbox is not a registered office or a proof of residency. Do not present it as either. |
| Regus | Meeting rooms plus a staffed business address | Serviced office / coworking | Reception and mail handling depend on the plan | Premium pricing | Usually the strongest option when a bank or customer expects a staffed office, but verify the exact address product. |
Virtual address questions
- Often yes for mail, but the answer depends on the state, the address provider, and the bank or payment processor. A registered agent address and a virtual mailbox serve different purposes. Confirm both before filing.
- No. A virtual mailbox receives mail. Proof of address is a document that a bank, landlord, or agency accepts as evidence that you live or operate at a location. A mailbox invoice is usually not accepted as proof of residence.
- Not always. Banks apply their own risk rules and may ask for a physical operating address, a lease, or a utility bill. Ask the bank before you pay for an address product.

- People use the terms interchangeably. The product is usually a commercial mail receiving agency (CMRA) that gives you a street-style address and receives mail. Some providers add scanning, forwarding, or meeting-room access.
- Often yes for a mailing or contact address, but check the provider terms and local rules. Do not label it as a staffed office or a residence if it is not.
